Why Nusa Lembongan?

We chose to have our wedding in Nusa Lembongan because it combines everything we love: travel, stunning beaches, the tropics, and the beautifully rich culture and warm, friendly people of Indonesia. Nusa Lembongan feels like a step back in time, offering a glimpse of what Bali may have been like 30 years ago. Its natural charm, relaxed pace, and breathtaking surroundings make it the perfect place to celebrate our special day with those we hold closest.

Getting to Nusa Lembongan.

Getting to Nusa Lembongan from Brisbane is straightforward!

You can fly with Jetstar, Qantas, or Virgin Australia to Denpasar (Ngurah Rai International Airport), Bali. Check out their websites (Jetstar, Qantas, Virgin Australia) for flight options.

Once you arrive in Denpasar, you’ll need to get to Sanur Harbour, about a 30-45 minute drive. We can recommend reliable drivers we have used before, or you can check with your ferry company, as many - like Bali Hai Cruises and Rocky Fast Cruises - offer free or affordable transfers from the airport to Sanur.

From Sanur, ferries run regularly to Nusa Lembongan and take about 30 minutes. We recommend booking with reputable companies like Rocky Fast Cruises, Bali Hai Cruises, or Scoot Fast Cruises, which all have excellent reviews. Be sure to arrange your transport and ferry tickets in advance for a smooth and stress-free journey to the island!

Where to Stay?

For those who value privacy and space, consider booking a villa through Airbnb.

Many stunning villas are located in the Sandy Bay area, where we’ll be staying.

Sandy Bay is just a 7-minute drive from Mushroom Bay, where our wedding will take place. It’s a fantastic spot with gorgeous Airbnb options and the lovely Sandy Bay Beach Resort, perfect for a hassle-free and relaxing stay with beachside dining and amenities.

Outside of Airbnb, here are some other options:

  • Budget:

    • Dream Beach Huts (Website) – bungalows overlooking Dream Beach.

  • Mid-Range:

    • Sandy Bay Beach Resort (Website) – A beautiful spot in Sandy Bay with resort-style amenities and stunning views. It's also right next door to our villa.

    • Ohana’s Boutique Resort & Beach Club (Website) – A stylish boutique resort with a lively vibe and beachfront access.

    • Bali Hai Tide Beach Resort (Website) – This is our wedding venue, located right on Mushroom Bay! It’s a wonderful choice for its beachfront location, comfortable accommodation, and easy access for the wedding day.

  • High-End:

    • The Tamarind Resort (Website) – Luxurious accommodations with ocean views.

    • Lembongan Island Beach Villas (Website) – Premium villas with spacious layouts and stunning location.

The island is quite small, so no matter where you choose to stay, you’ll never be too far from anything.

FAQ's

Travel & Accommodation

  • What’s the best way to get to Nusa Lembongan? Fly to Denpasar (Bali), take a transfer to Sanur Harbour, and then a ferry to Nusa Lembongan.

  • When should I book my accommodation? As soon as possible! The island is small, and accommodations fill up quickly.

  • Should I book travel insurance? Absolutely! Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover unexpected delays, cancellations, or medical needs. In Indonesia, cancellations due to volcanic activity can sometimes occur, so having coverage for such events is essential. If you plan to hire a scooter, make sure your travel insurance includes a scooter/moped add-on to ensure you're covered for any accidents or mishaps.

Things to Bring

  • What type of clothing should I pack? Light, breathable clothing is best for the tropical climate, and don’t forget swimwear, sunscreen, and a hat.

  • Do I need cash, or are cards accepted? Bring cash (Indonesian Rupiah) as the limited ATMs on the island sometimes do not work, and some places don’t accept cards. Having cash on hand will ensure you can pay for smaller purchases, transportation, and tips without any issues. Most restaurants and resorts accept card payments.

Health & Safety

  • Are there any health precautions I should take? We’re visiting during the dry season, so mosquitos shouldn’t be a major issue, but it’s still a good idea to bring repellent just in case. Drink only bottled water (avoid tap water). Reef booties are handy for the surfers!

  • Is it safe in Nusa Lembongan? Nusa Lembongan is incredibly safe, with a welcoming and friendly local community. However, it’s always a good idea to exercise general safety practices - keep an eye on your belongings and avoid leaving valuables unattended.

Getting Around

  • How do I get around the island? Most people use scooters or golf carts, which are easy to rent. If you’re planning to hire a scooter, ensure you have travel insurance coverage that includes scooter rentals. Alternatively, there are plenty of drivers on the island that you can hire, much like a taxi service, for short trips or to explore the area. While some areas are walkable, distances between spots can be a bit far, so a scooter, golf cart, or hired driver is more convenient.

Other Tips

  • What’s the local vibe like? Nusa Lembongan is laid-back and welcoming, with warm, friendly locals. Respect the local customs and traditions to make the most of your visit.

  • Are there any cultural customs to keep in mind? Dress modestly when visiting temples, and always ask for permission before taking photos of locals or sacred sites. Outside of the temples, boardies and bikini's are the norm!

  • What’s the Wi-Fi like? Wi-Fi is available at most accommodations, but it may be slower than what you’re used to at home.
